Martin Limited Edition Brazilian D-45 1987 in Natural
This D-45 is #8 of 50 from a limited run commemorating the 50th anniversary of the model’s existence. They pulled out all the stops on these, with abalone purfling and Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. We performed a fantastic neck reset in-house resulting in excellent playability as well as some light purfling touch up. This guitar is top-tier and stands out among the rest!
This 1973 Martin D-45 exemplifies Martin’s top-tier craftsmanship beautifully. Adorned with classic D-45 ornamentation, it features stunning abalone purfling, intricate inlays, golden tuners, and the iconic block inlay. Despite moderate player wear on its rosewood body and spruce top, it remains in very good condition. The Carter repair team has performed a professional neck reset, replaced the bridge and saddle, and re-glued the rosette. Additional previous repairs include fixing a 7-inch top crack under the pickguard with 3 cleats and a refret. This guitar plays and sounds wonderful, ready for many more decades of music.

TUESday: Playback sessions
Tuesday brought us a collaboration to write home about… the introduction of “Playback.” This unique new channel reveals the secrets from top recording artists, Grammy award-winning writers, and guitar whisperers – courtesy of the folks over at Sonora Guitar Intensive
Hosted exclusively here at Carter Vintage Guitars in “The Vault,” this weekly podcast is the newest way to venture into the creative mind.
In the first episode, Billy Strings and his mentor Robb Cappelletto play a tune called “Bye Bye Blues.” Short on time? Just catch the clip below:
WEDNESDAY vibes:
Wednesday led us to George Collins demoing a 1960 Gibson LP JR. This one is no longer available, but HERE is a link to all our Junior options!
MEGA MOJO THURSDAY:
Thursday we featured a classic 1966 Fender Telecaster in Blonde – (if you’re wondering, yes; all the staff fought over this one)

Blonde Telecasters with rosewood fingerboards were iconic instruments in helping define the sound of the 1960s – wielded by legends from Mike Bloomfield to Jimmy Page. This 1966 Telecaster shares that same DNA with classic twang and snappy tone. From early in the Post-CBS days, this guitar has undergone a few minor changes: a refret, new nut, a swapped neck pickup, a rewound bridge pickup, solder touch-up and some swapped tuners. However, overall it still has that ’60s mojo with impeccable tone and playability. Cosmetically, the blonde finish has aged nicely over its swamp ash body, with consistent checking, minor finish dings and buckle rash.

Friday we enjoyed the original music from “Chatham Rabbits;” husband and wife duo from the foothills of North Carolina. If you enjoy nostalgic acoustic sounds, with a fresh melodic take, you’ll love this original called “Collateral Damage.”
Austin is playing a 1942 D-18. this particular guitar exhibits bluegrass battle scars, with decades of wear evident throughout – miles that have resulted in rich, unstoppable tone. The top is very thin at this point, with light bracing, contributing to its excellent tone. It’s undergone a neck reset, yielding excellent playability with plenty of saddle, and its perfectly carved “V” neck is a perfect palm pairing. Repair-wise it has substantial finish wear throughout with spots of touch up, several repaired cracks, a replaced fingerboard and a repaired headstock. For a further in-depth look at its full repair history, check out the listing HERE.
Sarah is playing a 2003 Deering Sierra Banjo. View the specs and details HERE

Friday we also welcomed Joe Bonamassa back to the shop to pick up this 1960 Bassman, owned and played by the legendary Danny Gatton.
He hung around so Ben (CEO) and Noah (Sales Manager) could check out his awesome new find – Lefty Dizz’s Charcoal Frost bound neck strat! That guitar was insane and it was incredible to hear how Joe intends to take it out on the road again after some needed TLC.

We are always happy to feature Mike Seal, who regularly comes in and knocks our socks off. This week he played a 1966 Fender Stratocaster and gave it that classic Mike twist.

Andy Wood came in recently and we’re still not over this take on Mozart’s “Marriage of Figero” featured on a 1964 Gibson SG Special through a 1996 Dumble ODS-100 Overdrive Special 100w.
